Why the oven smells after cleaning

If you smell unburned gas, see smoke or sparks, or notice an electrical burning odor, turn the appliance off if safe, leave the area as appropriate and follow the utility or emergency guidance for your location.
For ordinary food or cleaner residue
- Let the oven cool completely.
- Ventilate the kitchen.
- Remove loose debris and wipe accessible surfaces only as the appliance manual directs.
- Confirm that no cloth, packaging, liner or excess cleaner remains.
- Use any burn-off or self-clean procedure only if the manufacturer specifically instructs it.
Do not improvise around coatings and elements
Commercial cleaners, abrasives and oven liners can damage some interiors or heating components. Self-clean cycles generate high heat and may be unsuitable in some circumstances. The model-specific manual is the primary source.
When service is the correct next step
Stop using the oven when the odor persists after visible residue is removed, when a breaker trips, the unit heats unpredictably, or wiring and insulation smell hot. Arrange qualified appliance service.
