How this calculator works
Calculate the linear footage of baseboard needed around a room, subtracting door widths and rounding up to full stock lengths.
Formula
Net trim length = room perimeter − door openings. Purchase length = net length × (1 + waste); pieces are rounded up to full stock lengths.

Example
A 12 × 10 ft room has a 44 ft perimeter before subtracting door openings.
Reliability check
List each wall segment and assign it to an available stock length. The lower pooled total is valid only when offcuts from one wall can be reused on another without creating unacceptable joints.
How to get a better estimate
- Long walls may benefit from longer stock to reduce joints.
- Add waste for miters, bad cuts and pattern matching.
- Measure closets separately if they receive trim.
What the result means
Linear footage does not automatically create an efficient cut list. Measure every wall segment and opening, then plan how cuts fit the available stock lengths before purchasing.

Use the flooring room-size table to confirm room dimensions, then verify trim wall by wall because perimeter is not floor area.
