Turn room dimensions into purchase-ready flooring quantities. The tool includes a waste factor and rounds up to complete boxes.
Formula
Purchase area = room area × (1 + waste). Boxes = purchase area ÷ box coverage, rounded up. Cost = boxes × box price.

Example
A 15 × 12 ft room is 180 sq ft; with 10% waste, plan for about 198 sq ft before rounding to boxes.
Reliability check
Measure closets and alcoves as separate rectangles, confirm box coverage from the selected product, and increase waste when plank direction, pattern or many short walls create more cuts.
How to get a better estimate
- Diagonal layouts and irregular rooms need more waste.
- Buy all boxes from the same production batch when appearance matters.
- Keep spare planks for future repairs.
