How this calculator works
Estimate full-height wallpaper strips and round up to complete rolls. Pattern matching and trimming can materially increase waste, so the calculator keeps those assumptions visible.
Base strips = wall perimeter ÷ roll width. Each cut includes top and bottom trim, then rounds up to the selected pattern match. Extra strips and complete rolls are rounded up.
Example
A 44 ft perimeter room with 8 ft walls typically requires several double rolls depending on roll dimensions and pattern repeat.
Reliability check
Confirm the roll’s actual width and length, pattern repeat, match type and packaging convention. Before ordering, test whether the longest primary or alternate cut fits within one physical roll.
How to get a better estimate
- Confirm whether the retailer sells single or double rolls.
- Large pattern repeats can reduce usable strips per roll.
- Buy rolls from the same dye lot for consistent color.
What the result means
Wallpaper packaging and terminology vary. Pattern repeat, drop match, trimming and damaged lengths can materially change usable strips, so verify the roll width, roll length and match instructions.
Reference tables
Use the paint-area table only as a room-size cross-check; wallpaper rolls still depend on strip width, cut length and pattern match.
